Hi, this is Davier. Today we’ll be continuing our tutorial on making an original creation (OC) asset! Today’s agenda: Character Modelling.
This is a timelapse, showing how I did the 3D model. Using the character that Renfred drew as reference, I modelled it.
In the next few slides, I’ll be showing you all some tips and tricks that I used doing this model.
The model was done in Autodesk Maya
If you have a reference and you want to place it in, a good way to do it is to use an image plane. First, go to the viewport that you want, then click:
View > Image Plane > Import Image
Second tip I want to share is the scaling of vertices. If you select 2 or more vertices and you scale them one way, they will meet in the middle and be aligned.
Next tip that I’ll be sharing, is a shortcut to zoom in to selected objects. To do this, select an object you want to focus on, and press F.
The last tip that I want to share is changing the pivot point and how to snap to vertices. To change your pivot, select your object and be in Move mode (W), then press D and move your pivot to your desired location. To snap, hold V and move to wherever you want to snap.

This is the final model using those tips that I mentioned. I did some texturing offscreen.
You guys can download the model file here:
Hope you all enjoyed and learnt something from this tutorial. Keep a lookout for tomorrow’s entry on character movement! Till next time, see you monkeys around!
